Changing Orbit

Living by Design, Not by Default.

We're Curtis and Ericka. We built careers and a life we're proud of, and we're not running away from any of it. We're simply ready to see what happens when a successful chapter isn't the final chapter — and to build the next one together with more freedom, adventure, laughter, and time for each other.

Why we're sharing it

We're learning as we go

We have a vision for this next chapter, not a finished answer. We want to share the choices that work, the ones that don't, the ordinary days, the adventures, and the work of building a stronger life together. We also want to learn from people who are changing their own lives along the way.

Two ways to follow

Come along with us

Some parts are best shared as they happen. Others need time to sit with, think about, and write down. Start wherever feels natural.

Journey

Decisions, experiments, trips, wrong turns, laughter, and the ordinary moments in between.

Stories

The things we want to think about more deeply: what changed, what surprised us, and what we're learning about the life we're building.

    Coast Ride

A short coastal ride together — less about the destination than the shared experience of getting out, moving, and enjoying the moment.

  • The Dog Walks and the Laughter

Curtis expected the major decisions to prove whether the new orbit was working. Instead, some of the clearest evidence showed up twice a day on walks with King and Pele.

  • The Life I Built Wasn't the Life I Wanted to Keep Building

Changing Orbit did not begin because Curtis's career failed. It began while much of the life he had worked for was still working—and he started questioning whether he wanted to keep organizing everything else around it.

How we keep ourselves honest

A way to navigate the change

We needed more than a vague promise to “live differently.” The Method helps us move through change deliberately. The Pillars remind us what we want the new life to make room for.

Method

Recognize, Reassess, Reimagine, Prepare, Change, and Recalibrate.

Pillars

Reinvention, Adventure, Relationship, Home, Reflection, and Courage.
